A comic page I did to try and get the feel of more simplistic shading down...this is VERY simplistic, and probably won't be this simple when I do real comic pages. I was trying to get used to different kinds of shots and panels...still need a lot of practice.

Based on a fic I'm writing and have yet to post the first chapter of. :XD:

nice job! His torso looks a bit short in the last panel there, but this looks great! Can't wait to see it inked in! ;)

Lol that's because his waistband is drawn halfway up, it was intentional. Notice you can't see his belly button.

And thanks!

Nice work on the overall panel layout :) It's good and understandable. You should try to ink and color this one some time, it'd look pretty cool

And by the way, I'm going to upload the Marh Mifune artwork in just a moment...!

Heh, thanks man! I think I may, but first I need a good pen...I'm looking at mangaka pens, but I can't afford any at the moment. :XD:

Oho! I'll go check it out! :'D

No problem! :)

Hmmm, there are some good ink pens out there, but they're not too cheap and often you have to buy more than one so you could get more varied line thickness. But you know, another option is getting either a brushpen or an ink and a brush. Both allow for more varied and dynamic line, and brushpen has become one of my own favorites. It's a bit more expensive and tougher to find from art stores though, but it's not as messy and it's easier to handle.

Or you know, you can use the computer to ink too :'D I'm just more into traditional inking myself.

Hmm, I see! I'll have to look into those. I did consider doing it digitally, but I need to get my skills up to par with traditional inking, so I really wanna try doing the ink traditionally too. :XD: Then add in the speech bubbles on Photoshop. I'm looking for stuff I don't need anymore around the house to sell so I can get some materials. :'D

Sure thing, you should try traditional inking :) It helps to become more precise with your drawing too, that's what I noticed happening to myself. Of course some mistakes can be corrected with either white gouache paint or with the computer after scanning too. The worst thing about traditional art is just that the tools tend to cost a bit ._. I really need to get some new markers, the old ones are dying out...

Yeah T.T That's mainly why I got so good at digital. I can't afford all the materials I'd like for traditional work and still make it that epic...

Yeah :/ I just happen to be one of those rich kids, so I've been able to afford traditional tools as well as digital. Though I do try to practise my digital art skills too, now that I'm going to get a better version of Photoshop for my birthday.
